PLANTS FOR BEGINNERS
Look with admiration at the spectacular bushes and think, that only experienced plant lovers can grow these? And then there are the myths on the Internet about the capricious nature of green pets that are confusing? There is no need to be afraid and put off creating a collection until later.. I assure you, you will be able to do this no worse than experienced flower growers. Especially when there are useful tips at hand.
CHLOROPHYTUM
Light | Grows well in partial shade, and in bright diffused lighting |
Temperature | spring-summer — +24-27 city., autumn-winter - postpones reduction to +13 city. In warmer months, you can take it outside |
Watering | Moderate, without filling and drying, otherwise the leaves will start to dry out |
Air humidity | No need for increased, room conditions are quite suitable. You can have a warm shower |
Landing/transfer | Light soil, eg, top with added foam balls. Pot - according to the size of the roots, in a large container, chlorophytum will not grow children – sockets |
Top dressing | Universal fertilizer (according to instructions) |
Reproduction | By dividing the bush, sockets |
THE CTENANTA BURLE-MARXII
Light | Tolerates partial shade well, grows well in artificial light, afraid of bright sunlight |
Temperature | spring-summer — +18-24 city., autumn-winter - no less +18 city. |
Watering | In warm weather, abundant in combination with spraying, in cold weather - moderate |
Landing/transfer | Light soil, necessarily with baking powder (perlite, foam balls). Needs a good layer of drainage, eg, from foam. The pot is small in volume, so that the water does not stagnate and the roots do not rot |
Air humidity | Loves tall. Can be sprayed. If you don't have a humidifier, place the pot with the plant on a tray with wet expanded clay |
Top dressing | Fertilizers for decorative foliage (I use it with vitamins from Aminosil) |
Reproduction | By dividing the bush, cuttings |
AGLAONEMA SILVER KING
Light | bright diffused. Direct rays should be avoided, to avoid leaf burn. Grows well in artificial light |
Temperature | spring-summer — +20-25 city., autumn winter - +18-20 city. |
Watering | Moderate (better to underfill, what to pour). Roots will rot due to dampness |
Air humidity | Moderate. Without sufficient moisture, plants do not develop, leaves don't unfurl, deformed, the edges are drying. In summer you should spray the foliage with soft water at least 2-3 once a week, in the heat - every day. To increase humidity, place the flower on a tray with wet expanded clay or pebbles, avoiding the bottom of the pot touching the water. Aglaonema responds well to a warm shower |
Landing/transfer | small pot, increase as the bush grows. The freer the capacity, the greater the risk of root rot. The soil is light, necessarily with baking powder (perlite, foam balls, some fine bark) |
Top dressing | You can add a long-acting fertilizer to the soil or water it with a complex fertilizer twice a month. (N-P-K), which contains more nitrogen, than other elements |
Reproduction | By dividing the bush, planting stumps in the ground (the kidneys will wake up) |
PHILODENDRON Ivy (SCANDANCE)
Light | bright diffused (with sufficient lighting the foliage is brighter). Should be protected from sunlight. Grows well under lamps |
Temperature | spring-summer — +20-25 city., autumn-winter - not lower +15 city. |
Watering | In the warm season - moderate (the soil should be slightly damp to the touch), in cold weather - less often. Does not like excessive watering and stagnant water, since the soil becomes dense and oxygen does not reach the root system. Eventually the leaves begin to turn yellow, growth is slowing down, Root rot may form |
Air humidity | High (not less 80-85%). You can spray the plant, place on a tray with moistened moss, pebbles or expanded clay |
Landing/transfer | Lightweight top peat substrate + baking powder (15% nutrient soil). Small pot, increase as the root system grows |
Top dressing | Mineral, organic or complex fertilizers (according to instructions). Young specimens especially need nutrition, when there is active growth. |
Reproduction | By dividing the bush, layers |
BEGONIA ROYAL VICTORIA
Light | bright diffused. Grows well in artificial light. Withers in the shadows, the leaves are getting smaller |
Temperature | All year round - approx. +18 city. |
Watering | The plant loves to drink (drought will lead to death), but there is no need to fill it |
Air humidity | 60% |
Top dressing | Fertilizers for decorative foliage (I use vitamins from Aminosil) |
Landing/transfer | The soil is light: upper peat (70%) + foam beads or perlite (30%). Small pot - in 3 times smaller than the plant itself |
Reproduction | Leaf cuttings (I prefer this method), dividing the bush. |
