CLERODENDRUM AT HOME

Communicating with flower growers on the forums, often hear: uganda clerodendrum not growing, dies when cut, does not bloom, leaves turn yellow and fall off. Some people get rid of it for these reasons.. I had the same problems with the plant, but i got through them.

WHEN CAREING FOR CLERODENDRUM, YOU SHOULD CONSIDER

  1. Liana doesn't like small pots: roots develop quickly, the flower is starving and, Consequently, withers.
  2. Need quality soil. My "cleric" grows in pure "Agrobalt" (high-moor peat substrate) and feels great
  3. In the absence of flowering, likely, in the absence of light. My pet stands on the eastern windowsill without shading and regularly pleases with beauty. And in the fall, without lighting, lays flower stalks.
  4. The plant does not like dry (leaves fall immediately), the soil should always be slightly damp. barely dries out, watering again, but without swamp. In case of accidental overdrying, you need to start soldering in small portions. If the flower withered after pruning, you are clearly addicted to watering. The above-ground part has decreased, and moisture arrived, before haircut, the plant could not cope with so much water.
  5. After pruning, I feed the clerodendrum with calcium nitrate. When the shoots grow - a couple of times with potassium monophosphate (blooms on young growths).

CLERODENDRUM – LANDING AND CARE, GROWING IN HOME CONDITIONS – TIPS AND FEEDBACK

MAGIC BUTTERFLY CLERODENDRUM

I first saw this plant in the greenhouse of my friend, it bloomed at that time. Blue butterflies fluttered over the green leaves. I just took my breath away from this kra-1 । honeycomb! Sure, I couldn't resist, asked for a cutting…

Arriving home, processed the stalk in a root formation stimulator and put it on rooting in vermiculite, covering the container with it with a plastic bag.

Important, so that the stalk is semi-lignified, the length 15-20 cm. If you take unripe green cuttings, containing a large amount of water, they just rot, failing to take root. The best time to root – April to September.

About a month later, the cutting took root., and I planted it in a 200-gram cup in the ground, consisting of turf, sheet, peat land with the addition of coarse sand in equal parts. The next transplant was done six months later, already in the pot.

In general, the Ugandan clerodendrum turned out to be an unpretentious plant.. Following simple rules of care, anyone can grow it.

This clerodendrum loves light very much., and not afraid of direct sunlight. Therefore, the best place for its placement will be southern, southeast and east windows. You can grow it in the northern, but only with backlight. It grows on my east window..

An equally important condition – organization of proper wintering. In winter, you need to lower the temperature to 12-16 ° C. It's easy to do this in an apartment., you just need to put a flower pot close to the window. This is done in order, so that the clerodendrum rests and rewards with lush flowering in spring.

Since the Ugandan clerodendrum blooms only on young shoots, for abundant flowering, it needs pruning or pinching. They are also needed for, so that the plant does not stretch (then it becomes unattractive), and grew a lush bush.

I water the clerodendrum abundantly in the summer after the top layer of the earth has completely dried.. In winter – rarely, just to not dry out.

Like any plant, Clerodendrum Uganda needs to be fed. From spring to autumn I feed it twice a month with a complex fertilizer for flowering plants.. When the bloom ends, I stop feeding. As for pests, then I didn’t see them on my cleroden-drum. Likely, it's because of the bad smell, which exude its leaves. This smell is especially felt when they are rubbed..

ON A NOTE

Clerodendrum Uganda – one of the brightest representatives of the genus Clerodendrum. Belongs to the Verbena family. Grows naturally in the mountains of East Africa. It is an evergreen semi-liana with thin lignified shoots up to 2,5 m, short-stalked dark green leaves up to 10 see and blue flowers, shaped like butterflies. Flowering plant in spring, flowering can continue until autumn. Clerodendrum can also be formed in the form of a tree, constantly pinching shoots. You need to pinch every second internode.
