KURKULYGO – DESCRIPTION

This is a perennial herbaceous plant with a fleshy tuberous above-ground short stem - a member of the Hypoxidia family., native to the tropical rainforests of Asia, australia. Leaves basal oblong-lanceolate, glossy, green. There are varieties with white-striped foliage, with plates, hairy on underside. yellow, small, inconspicuous flowers are collected in the form of a spikelet or a short brush on a short stalk at the base of the leaves.

Cucumber golovchatoe (Capitulated by a weevil) - excellent ornamental plant, which is by no means new in culture, but somewhat forgotten. Today interest is returning.. It is due not only to the exotic appearance (resembles palm trees: I hide, coconut; gedichium from ginger), but also unpretentiousness.

FEATURES OF CARE FOR KURKULIGO

Curculigo prefers to grow in well-lit, warmth (not less +18 city.) location, but calmly tolerates lack of light and dry air.

Plant should be watered sparingly., adding during the active growing season (In spring and summer) mineral complex fertilizer - once a 2 weeks.

Young specimens are transplanted every 1 – 2 of the year in spring. Curculigo grows better in a wide bowl.

Plant seeds are sown in spring in bowls, in a mixture of leafy soil, turf, peat, sand (2:1:2:1). Put in a container and keep at a temperature of at least +20 city. Seedlings dive one by one into pots with a diameter 6-7 see in the same substrate. Keep in a bright place at a temperature of at least +18 city. Water moderately, without drying out. When the roots will braid the earthen ball, plants are transferred to larger pots (9-11cm). The composition of the soil is the same, but the amount of sod land is increased in 2 times.

Curculigo can be propagated by layering, separating them in the spring and planting them in pots with a diameter 10-11 cm. soil substrate: leaf land, turf, humus, sand (1:2:1:1).
