The aspidistra in my collection is a real "old-timer". A piece of rhizome with several leaves was presented to me by a neighbor of years 10 back. Moreover, the plant overwhelmed during this time in a greater (shallow, but wide) pot just twice, since it develops slowly.

Along with the spectacular appearance, one of the main advantages of the aspidistra is its simplicity.

As it grew, it ceased to fit on the northern windowsill., therefore she "moved" her to the floor in front of the window in a room of the same orientation. But this did not affect the appearance of the plant..

In the summer I try to take it out to the balcony, so that young leaves develop well before the onset of the autumn-winter period. Since my pet spends most of the year in poor lighting conditions, I don't feed her.

When watering, I try to keep the "golden mean", as well as overdrying, and overflow are equally harmful to aspidistra. Once a month I bathe her in the shower or wipe the leaves from dust with a damp cloth.

CARE IS THE SAME

Several years ago I bought the Milky Way aspidistra. This variety is inferior in size to the tall aspidistra, but I take care of both equally. Is considered, that specimens with variegated leaves require more lighting, otherwise, the pattern on the leaves may fade and disappear. Until I observe this in my conditions.

With optimal content and coolness (+18 city.) in winter, aspidistra in summer can bloom. I do not yet have the opportunity to provide plants with such a wintering, therefore flowering is delayed.
