ECHINOCEREUS AT HOME

Watering echinocereus carefully: on hot sunny days - once a week (per pot 0,3 l / 100 ml of water), in autumn and winter - once a month (50 ml).

I can't provide a cold winter, but from poor watering the cactus does not grow during this period, and the earth does not turn into "asphalt".

I feed the plant once a year, after wintering (when I switch to normal watering) fertilizer "Bona FORTE for cacti" with a red cap. At this time, the rudiments of the buds are already visible.

AROMATIC FLOWERING OF ECHINOCEREUS

Echinocereus has a flower of stunning beauty with a diameter 10-12 cm.

He pleases with his appearance and pleasant aroma for three days, which is long enough for cacti. In addition, it has an interesting feature: the bud will open completely (as in the photo), only if direct sunlight is shining on it.

Cactus looks beautiful even without flowers. For its variegated color and prickly appearance, it was nicknamed "thistle".

If you look closely, then horizontal stripes of a different color are visible on the plant - "annual rings". The distance between them is different, from 1,5 to 0,5 cm, whichever, what was summer like in terms of sunny days and warmth. In our strip, Echinocereus grows slowly. To my about 12-15 years old.
