MEDINILLA IN HOME X CONDITIONS
About five years have passed since meeting this beauty, and still looking at each other. The first, what did I find out about her, - «capricious, does not like cold, need moisture and so on ". But it turned out not so medinilla and capricious.
MEDINILLA AT SUNSET OF SUMMER
I put the flower that came to me in August in the southern loggia, in the thick of the collection on the rack. In a small pot, the soil was poured with a slide, and the stems have a low. Watering in the usual sense did not work. Soaking in a container of water came up (now sometimes I pour it into a deep tray).
Once in 10 days added a little universal fertilizer. For the winter, I transferred it to the room on a shelf with Saintpaulias - warmth and light from lamps. I did not transplant, although the plant was cramped. However, new leaves and twigs began to grow actively.. I fed the plant once a month with a weak solution of complex fertilizer. Watered mainly in the pallet.

ATTEMPTS TO FORM A MEDINILLA
In the beginning of April, with warming, returned the plant to the loggia and put it on the bottom shelf of the rack, as I noticed, that a lot of sun is not for medinilla, even though she loves the light. By this time, the first "home" bud appeared. Several more have grown over the summer. And the twigs spread out to the sides and began to interfere.
I decided to shorten them for the winter season, In hope, that lateral. However, from the newly regrown shoots, my pet again turned into a "mess".
I had to give her the "roof" of the shelving in the southern loggia, where she has lived for the last couple of years permanently. I arrange a cool for her there (+14-15 city.) wintering, since the leaves in the room dried up during this period.

Transplanted medinilla through 2, 5 of the year in spring. I added chopped moss to the universal soil, sand, leaf land, crumbled a couple of pieces of charcoal. At the bottom - drainage. After transshipment into a larger pot for a couple of weeks, I sent it under the lamps to the lower shelf of the rack in the room.
Then she returned to the loggia. By the end of the summer she tried to form again: shortened three long branches. But the stubborn grew them again. Now there is enough soil for a five-year-old plant., I do not plan a transplant yet.
Watering and feeding - as needed. Like the rest of your flowers, I do not spray medinilla. I resigned myself to the shape of the plant, and there is still enough space for her on the rack. Twigs grow freely. Large and heavy peduncles bend them down. I do not lift on props in hope, that in this position the lateral shoots will awaken. Medinilla blooms enchanting! No wonder the specific name of the plant is "magnificent".
