CULTIVATION OF BILBERGY IN HOME CONDITIONS
Bilbergia drooping appeared in my collection in the fall of years 5 back, but she did not immediately find the conditions.
At first, under fluorescent lamps, it grew very slowly and did not bloom.. The picture has changed dramatically, when, by replanting the plant in a slightly larger pot in the soil for bromeliads, moved it to a corner stand, attached to the wall and plastic window, eastward. My bilbergia has changed! I began to throw out all the new leaves and soon (right on New Year's Eve) bloomed. Sure, I understood, that the plant needed a lot of sunlight without direct burning rays, what it got.
BILBERGIA: CONDITIONS AND CARE
Bilbergia tolerates heat normally in summer. Sometimes flower growers write, that you need to protect the plant from drafts, but for me they are inevitable, and nothing, it does not affect the beauty in any way.
In winter in place, where does she stand, turned out to be the most suitable temperature for setting flower buds - + 16-18 city.
I water it in the cold season and less often in the off-season, than summer. I do not allow drying of a substrate, as the tips of the leaves dry, what spoils the appearance.
I do not spray the plant or pour water into the center of the outlet, although sometimes I come across such advice.
I feed from spring to mid-October 2 once a month with fertilizer for bromeliads.
NOTICE
Bilbergia does not like large pots, therefore I rarely transplant it, only when I notice the roots emerging from the drainage holes. And for flowering you need, so that the root system fills all the space in the container.
Marvelous, but the next year, my favorite pleased with flowers at the end of December. Moreover, one peduncle dries up, and the other outlet throws out the next, and flowering lasts more than one month!
