CIRTOMIUM – GROWING IN HOME CONDITIONS AND FEATURES OF CARE

I was offered cortomium sickle, but read, that he needs a cool winter. I don't have such conditions. Is it worth starting a plant? What other features of the plant?

Cyrtomium crescent - one of the few ferns, which is able to winter from October to February in the cool (+12-20 city., not less +10 city.), but this is optional, it grows well all year round and at room temperature. In the heat (above + 21 deg.) the room needs to increase the humidity, eg, put the pot on a pallet with damp expanded clay and sprinkle the fronds daily with cold, settled water.

CIRTOMIUM – CARE

  1. Cyrthomium needs bright, diffused lighting, grows well in shaded areas, but still needs to get enough daylight. You can keep in the east, western and even northern windowsills. Shade in the south (better blinds) or put the plant in 1,5 m from the window.

  1. When watering, the main thing is not to overfill or dry out..
  2. They feed the flower during the active growing season About every 2 weeks with a complex mineral fertilizer for ferns in half concentration, alternating with organic (liquid "Biohumus", Ligno-humate, "Potassium humate"),
  3. Rarely transplanted (times in 3-5 years old) in a wide and not very deep pot, to slightly acidic or neutral, humus rich, well-drained soil. for example, turf, leaf land, sand (1:3:1). Suitable substrate for terrestrial orchids or high-quality universal.
  4. The fern is propagated by dividing the rhizome - about once every 5 years old, in spring, when transplanting (each fragment must have a growth point and at least 3 leaves), and disputes, which scatter around and germinate easily when sown.
