In winter, we often buy indoor flowers. And if there are usually no problems with the transportation and packaging of small specimens, then with large-sized ones it is more difficult. Further advice will come in handy for newcomers., who are about to transport their grown green friends to their new home.

DISHES AND SUBSTRATE

Pour the future "traveler" for 2-3 days before moving.

Cover the surface of the ground with paper towels crumpled into loose lumps., napkins, toilet paper - spread out in a continuous layer and fix with strips of tape between the walls of the pot.

Place the plastic container in a plastic bag of a suitable size, tie the handles or also fix with tape.

Ceramic containers, to avoid cracking, pre-wrap with a soft thick cloth, bubble wrap.

Pull the walls of wooden boxes and tubs tightly with twine and tie. Reinforce the bottom if necessary (tie a plastic / metal pallet).

ROOM FLOWER PACKAGING FOR TRANSPORTATION

Relatively soft, unstable trunk (dieffenbachia, chief flair, some dracaena and cor-dylins) provide support - tie in several places to a bamboo stick (preliminarily, before packing the pot, insert it into the ground, trying to minimize trauma to the roots). Well lignified trunk (ficus, large palms) support is optional.

Tie the branches, but not all at once into one "girth" (such a strapping can easily "move out"), and alternately attract several shoots to each other in different places, starting with internal, and fix. Do not be zealous, so as not to break, the task is to reduce the diameter of the crown. Use soft material (thick twine, wide tape, etc.).

In bush plants (large aglaonema, spathiphyllum, ferns) lift the leaf blades or frond, gather in a loose bunch, tie several times and fix on a reliable support with a "figure eight".

For added protection against damage, including from the cold, wrap the plant with several layers of loose spunbond.

REMEMBER, that it is desirable to carry a large specimen "in four hands" - one person carries a pot, the other holds the crown. Passing doorways, tilt the plant.

TRANSPORTATION OF INDOOR PLANTS – PACKING AND TRANSPORTATION TIPS

WINTER TRANSPORTATION OF INDOOR PLANTS

Naturally, what is winter time – this time of year, unsuitable for the purchase of heat-loving indoor crops, however, if you just have to purchase a flower, as a gift for example, then you need to act.

You can usually get advice on transporting a particular flower and from the seller himself. However, it is better to use that knowledge, what will we give you, they are simple and do not require any special abilities to implement.

Easier, sure, with small plants: the smaller it is, the easier it is to transport, and accordingly less risk. Any cardboard box is suitable for a small flower, which will be appropriate based on the size of the flower pot.

At the very bottom of the box you need to put a couple of plastic bottles, which should be filled with warm water. You can also put them on the sides of the flower pot., the benefit is now available "containers" of any size and almost any shape.

It's better not to carry water from home, although if it's easy, then you can play it safe and pour it into a large thermos, taking it with you, or you can just use the help of the seller and pour hot water into the bottles right in the store. The water should not be too hot, optimum temperature – order 70 degrees, such water will cool down approximately 7-10 min, which is usually enough, to get to transport.

If the distance is not measured by jogging to the car and from it to the entrance and it is longer, then in addition to bottles of warm water, it is advisable to use newspapers as well, which you need to wrap the pot along with the flower and fill in all the voids in the box. Then the box or box, where you placed the flower, must be tightly sealed, it is better to put it in a plastic bag for this (if the box is large, then you can use a trash bag) and tape all the holes with tape.

With small plants everything is clear, but higher ones often cause difficulties. They will have to be wrapped in something resembling a fur mitten.. Any fabric or oilcloth should be used as a material for making such a mitten.. Very important, so that the size of the fabric or other material allows you to wrap the whole plant as a whole. After the plant is wrapped, the fabric should be secured with twine or well wrapped with tape, and it is imperative to collect all this structure in a warm store, not in the cold, otherwise all work will go to waste.

But the real difficulties arise, when we need to transport really large plants, which exceed a height of one and a half meters. Only a cover will hardly help here, here you need several, after all, it is necessary to protect the root system from frost, and the aerial part of the plant.

Best option – use large plastic bags, and the cheapest – take trash bags. Before placing the plant in the bag, try to get warm air there – inhale or hold over the battery. This technique, with its simplicity, is extremely effective..

Roots needed, before putting in the bag, wrap with lutrasil or ordinary burlap, the same can be done with the aboveground part. If the plant is too spreading, then first you can try to neatly tie the shoots, then put on the bag, then wrap with burlap, put on the second bag and wrap it all with duct tape. Such a "cover" can keep warm for minutes 10-12 in the cold in 15-17 degrees, this has already been verified by my own experience.

Quite a different matter, if, in addition to the impressive size, the plant consists of very fragile shoots, covered with thorns, these are certain types of cacti.

This is a wonderful gift, but wrapping a cactus with foil is not an easy task. To prevent sharp thorns from tearing the bag to shreds and damaging the fabric, thin foam should be placed around the thorns. Now you can find a lot of it in stores., engaged in the sale of household appliances, as a rule, it goes for recycling, and they can give it to you for free, as much as you like. Sometimes polyester remains, this is a thin film, used to protect liquid crystal screens from damage. It's also quite durable and good at keeping warm.. After the thorns have fallen asleep in foam or polyester, you can start wrapping the cactus with a cloth and putting on a garbage bag on top.

BTW

If you have a long journey, for example when changing your place of residence, it is necessary to start preparing for the transportation of domestic plants in advance. To do this, in about a couple of days, they completely stop watering and spraying them.. Ideally, the soil should be dry, it is better to water the plant immediately after, how will it end up in a new place.

When transporting in an open car, try to place the plant behind any more massive thing., to get rid of the constant influence of the cold wind. After transportation, place the plant in a cool room first. – glazed balcony or veranda, where the temperature is positive, but not too high, and only after a couple of hours the plant can be brought into the room, warm with your love and water, room temperature.
