Adaptation of indoor plants – TIPS AND FEEDBACK

HOW TO ADAPT NEW HOUSEPLANTS – CARE

Our consultants are administrators of the "Library of Aroids" group on VKontakte Elena GALUZINA and Natalia ROMANOVSKAYA.

Plants, who came to us from Asia, harder to adapt to other conditions, rather than "Dutch". You have decided to purchase a novelty? Start by preparing the conditions.

FOR ADAPTATION OF HOUSEHOLD PLANTS FROM ASIA WILL NEED

Separate place for quarantine.

Greenhouse. Depending on the size and number of plants, this can be a container, plastic bottle, two identical cake lids, aquarium.

You can use sachets, but they must be transparent, and the volume of air inside is sufficient.

Heat source. If the apartment is cool, you can position the plant on a heated mat or next to a wall heater.

Light source. Stable and bright light on the clock is important for "adapters": usually - 14-16 per day.

Transparent container (cups and pots depending on the size of the root system), in which it is convenient to observe the growth of roots.

Substrate: moss, perlite, coconut, seramis, lechuza, zeolite - any more or less neutral.

Preparations for pests and diseases.

Do not rush to open immediately. Let it stand for a couple of hours, especially if there is a significant temperature difference outside and inside. Submerge fairly dried specimens with an open root system completely for an hour on 2 into warm water. Gently clean the rooted plant of the transport substrate.

CHEMICAL TREATMENT

During the adaptation period, it is not desirable (exception - ambulance). Wash the plant with soap. You can rub the leaves, cherries, stem with rubbing alcohol (75-95%). And watch. If the slightest signs of pests or rot are noticed, the use of appropriate drugs is mandatory (according to instructions).

CARE AFTER LANDING

Place plants in a greenhouse under a lamp. Do not use a windowsill: "Cold feet" in combination with temperature and light changes are destructive. Desirable, so that the plants do not touch the walls of the greenhouse and each other. Do not place with fresh cuts, as mold appears. If using a support, take a plastic, otherwise the wood will become moldy. Ventilate daily 5-10 min.

Monitor the status of newbies, without opening the greenhouse. If the leaves start to deteriorate, delete them. See the rot on the stem? Clean it up and process it. The substrate should be slightly damp. Convenient to water the soil using a sprayer.

No need to get a plant every day in search of a new sprout. But if it is sluggish even in a greenhouse and turgor is not restored for 2-3 days, urgently look for a problem.

As soon as the young roots appear, start to gradually wean your baby from greenhouse conditions.

IMPORTANT TIPS

Try not to order adult plants, young people take root much better.

Take your time to throw out the newbie, if he dropped all the leaves. the main thing, do not pour the "stump" - without leaves evaporating moisture, a minimum of water is required.

Transplant the plant from the adaptation substrate after, how it will grow enough roots (preferably a full glass). The next container should be slightly larger than the previous one, substrate - light, breathable.

ADAPTATION OF NEW ROOM COLORS – TIPS AND FEEDBACK

Replenishment of the collection with new plants is a pleasant and exciting thing at the same time. (and suddenly something goes wrong). However, knowing how to work with newbies, help them adapt to your conditions will not be difficult.

"IN" PROCESSING

COMPATIBILITY CHART FOR SOME TANK MIXTURE MEDICINES

First, treat the plant from pests and diseases., and at the same time support immunity. And this is where tank mixes come in handy.. The main thing to know, what drugs are compatible.

It is not recommended to make "cocktails" of more than 3 components. It is best to take two protective agents and one growth stimulator (eg, "Topaz" + "Aktara" + "Zircon", "Akarin" + "Albite", Fitoverm + "Albite" + "Potassium humate").

Mixtures should be prepared immediately before use.. Leaving them for a few hours, there is a risk of provoking a physico-chemical reaction.

You can not combine concentrates, you can only add drugs in turn (or stock solutions) into the working solution, mixing well every time.

Work in a well ventilated area, using personal protective equipment.

When mixing two fungicides or two insecticides of different composition (complementary) their concentration is reduced by 1/3.

Biological preparations based on beneficial bacteria can only be “mixed” with immunostimulants and growth regulators.

HOW TO DO NO HARM IN COMPOSING TANK MIXTURES FOR PLANTS

Tank mixes for plants

Composing tank mixes for the "incoming" processing of floral novelties, be sure to take into account the composition of the drugs.

Can't be mixed:

  1. alkaline and acid solutions;
  2. preparations based on sulfur / boron with oil;
  3. calcium with iron/phosphorus/magnesium/sulphur/zinc;
  4. pesticides and preparations based on live microorganisms;
  5. lime boron;
  6. pesticides and fertilizers with zinc/magnesium/iron/boron;
  7. humates/Fitolavin/Pharmaiod/Siliplant with fungicides and insecticides;
  8. organophosphorus compounds with alkaline or copper-containing compounds.

After mixing drugs about their incompatibility says: sharp foaming, precipitation, floc formation, stratification of the mixture, etc..

Important points

First, I dilute each drug in a separate container., only then mix.

Prepare solutions in plastic or glass containers, to avoid reaction of preparations with container material.

I use the prepared mixture immediately..

WHEN TO REPLACE NEW HOUSE PLANTS?

Long transportation, repeated changes in conditions of detention - stress for the plant. Should give him 2-4 weeks (optimal for quarantine - a month) getting used to the new lighting, temperature, water quality, air humidity. Transplanted only fully adapted healthy specimens without signs of leaf fall.

SOIL REPLACEMENT

Opinions of flower growers about, that the purchased specimens need to completely replace the transport primer, are separated. I will express my.

soil mixture, where plants are sold, in composition it is completely identical to ready-made substrates based on high-moor peat, light and

loose, which allows the roots to breathe well, supplied with nutrients.

Transplanting with a complete replacement of the soil leads to damage to the roots, flowers get sick for a long time and often die. Better to move carefully, trying to injure the root system as little as possible.

Replacing the peat substrate is a must for cacti, because it is too wet for them.. For other beginners, such a procedure is needed only if, if the plant is planted in unsuitable soil and further stay in it will bring more harm, than root injury during transplantation. After replacing the soil, the pet needs a greenhouse and treatment with "Zircon", "Epinom".
