GROWING A PORTEN SUSPENSION CAMPAIGN IN HOME CONDITIONS

One autumn, a neighbor offered an adult Portenchlag Campanula bush. I decided to propagate the plant, to decorate the living room, and balcony, and veranda.

DIVISION METHOD

I cut the rhizome with a garden knife (from 2-3 developed kidneys) into several parts. Slices powdered with ash, so as not to rot. Each division, washing off old soil, planted in a flowerpot with a layer of expanded clay 5 cm, drainage holes and fresh loose substrate: leaf and peat land, humus, river sand (1:1:1:1).

For lush flowering I picked up small pots - according to the size of the root system. "Planting" was carefully watered and kept in partial shade 2-3 days. In the winter they stood in the cold (a few degrees higher, than on the street) greenhouse. By spring, the delenki have successfully rooted. Now, in this way, not only do I propagate a flower, but I also rejuvenate.

Campanula loves bright, diffused lighting. I protect the blind plant from the midday sun. If there is not enough light, stems are pulled out.

The bell is contraindicated in heat. Optimal in summer - +20 city., in winter - + 10-12 city.

I water the plant during the growing season when the air temperature is higher +16 city. daily (in the morning or in the evening I spray the lower parts of the shoots), after flowering - a couple of times a week, in the cold season - 2-3 once a month. I follow, so that there is no stagnation of moisture, otherwise the roots may rot.

In late autumn I shorten the stems by 8-10 cm.

In the spring, I remove the upper dried parts of the shoots. Young shoots are formed on the lower ones from dormant buds. Campanula looks spectacular in a hanging planter. When she grows up to 10-12 cm, pinch off the tops for branching.
