My birthday is at the end of September, and one of the flower gifts for the holiday once was a bag with a hippeastrum bulb. Large pale yellowish flower, shown on the package, сорта Yellow Goddess (Yellow goddess) intrigued me.
If you plant the onion too deep, flowering will be postponed indefinitely, that's why I buried it only for 2/3. At the same time, I chose a small pot, but steady. I added a little river sand and perlite to the soil for flowering plants.
SAVED THE PATIENT HIPPEASTRUM – COMBAT MEASURES
A week after planting, I noticed a speck on the bulb. It turned out to be a red burn (staganosporosis) - the worst enemy of the hippeastrum. Unless urgent action is taken, the disease will spread to the roots and leaves of the plant, leaving red streaks and stripes on them. To avoid this, I cleaned the onion from diseased scales and sprayed it with "Fundazol". After drying for a few days, planted in the ground again, after spilling it with a solution of potassium permanganate. I put the pot in a cool, dark place, checking regularly, is there an infection. The bulb remained clean.

Through 2 flower arrow appeared. When she reached the height 7-8 cm, I fed the hippeastrum with fertilizer for flowering species and put it on the southern windowsill. The arrow was growing fast, and one morning the first flower opened. It's gloomy and rainy outside, and at home "Yellow Goddess" gave her tenderness. For flowers to last longer, moved the plant pot to a cool room. After flowering, the bulb is depleted.
So as not to weaken at all, I cut the peduncle. When the weather is warm outside the window, put the hippeastrum under a canopy in a calm place. The sun was enough, so the leaves grew strong and healthy. At the end of August, she stopped watering, and the foliage gradually began to fade and turn yellow. Then took the onion out of the pot, cut dry roots, planted again and sent hippeastrum to rest.
After all, the dormant period is the key to annual flowering. And indeed, later 3 month, the handsome man again gave me his pale yellow "gramophones".
