ADENIUM: REDUCING HEIGHT
Lovers of growing adeniums from seeds often have to be patient while waiting for the first buds.. With proper agricultural technology, the seedling blooms no earlier 4-6 months after sowing, on average - after a year. In case of violation of the growing conditions, flowering is postponed indefinitely. In order not to inhibit the development of the plant, florists, usually, do not rush to pinch the shoots. They stretch out over time, and the "desert rose" loses its decorative effect. How to restore her beauty and compactness? By cardinal trimming, maybe, and subsequent vaccination - if the color of the succulent in the end turned out to be nondescript.
HOW TO SHORT ADENIUM: PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
One of my "age" seedlings already had a rather thick kaudex and shoots over half a meter long. Annual transportation to the dacha was problematic. I liked its large white flowers, so I decided to do a flat vaccination in the fall after Iobrezka: on the shortened part of the shoot, add its top with an active growth point. This method guarantees the absence of drying "hemp" on the cut.
The day before the procedure, I watered the adenium well. With a sterile blade, I cut off the shoots horizontally evenly about 40-45 cm, and they have tops (5-10 mm). Then I docked the sections of shortened shoots and tops, blotting excess juice with a napkin (it is poisonous in the plant, therefore worked with gloves). Tightly fixed the scion with a tape made of transparent cling film.
THANKS FOR WORK
Through 10 days removed the film - all four vaccinations took root. I put on zip bags on these shoots for another week, before the active growth of young buds. I put adenium under the phytolamp.
In the summer my 3 year old pet looked great: on the pruned shoots, a huge (to 15 on one!) number of flowers. Lush bloom, white cloud, lasted the whole season. I fed the plant with the fertilizer "Bona Forte for cacti and succulents", to provide phosphorus during budding, potassium and trace elements, but not provoke the growth of vegetative mass.
