GROWING PAPHIOPEDILUM IN HOME CONDITIONS

Venus's shoe (pafiopedilum) - one of the most unpretentious orchids. Tolerates like heat, so cool, being a thermophilic plant by nature. Used to, that in the hot summer it stagnated, the tips of the leaf blades were slightly reddish. Leaves get burned from direct sunlight and lose their decorative effect for a long time.. Cold in autumn does not harm the orchid when watering is reduced. I tried to grow it in the southwest window and in the northeast. The latter fit better: there is no scorching sun and it is cooler.

SECRETS OF CARE WITH PAPHIOPEDILUM

I grow papiopedilum in pine bark with the addition of charcoal, drainage - foam.

I spread sphagnum moss on the surface of the substrate, although you can do without it.

I feed with fertilizer for orchids or organo-mineral: in the warm season - once every two weeks, cold - once a month in low concentration.

DRESS SHOE

I water about once a week (more often if necessary): wash first in the shower, then minutes on 15 I soak the pot in water. Checking the need to moisturize, digging out the bark with a stick. It must be dry. And washing the plant in the shower is prevention in the fight against the scabbard. I do not spray.

Transplant papiopedilum at home. Paphiopedilum through 20 days after purchase.

IN TEMPERATURE

The plant can grow flower shoots starting in January, and it happens, that blooms in early summer. If the apartment is cool, flowers last until 1,5 months, if it's hot - three weeks.
