Beauty, conquered many florists.

There is a flower in my collection, whose beauty will not leave indifferent any grower – this calla is Ethiopian. Calla lilies are considered difficult to care for., but if you do everything right, she will not cause much trouble.

SOIL FOR CALLS

When choosing a soil, consider, that calla grows naturally in swampy areas, respectively, the soil must be nutritious and slightly acidic. I take a piece of universal soil, part of perlite, part of the sand.

For one tuber you need a pot of at least 3 liters. The pallet needs a deep, since there must always be water in it.

CHOOSING A LANDING SITE FOR ETHIOPIAN KALLA

Calla prefers a bright place. It can be an east or west window.. I do not expose to too bright sun to avoid leaf burns. Calla does not like drafts. So it's better to choose a window, which does not open.

IMPORTANT

KALLA LOVES SPACE, SO THE POT MUST BE BIG AND WIDE.

TEMPERATURE AND IRRIGATION

The optimum temperature for growing calla lilies should not exceed 20 ° C, but also should not fall below 16 °C, otherwise diseases may appear. Calla during active growth needs regular watering., and during the flowering period, its intensity increases. Spraying is useful for the plant. When it fades, I reduce watering, and during the rest period, near 2 months, I reduce to a minimum.

KALLA ETHIOPSKAYA: FEEDING AND TRANSFER

I feed calla lilies during the budding period with complex fertilizer with a minimum of nitrogen. Sometimes – vitamins B6 + B12 + glucose; an ampoule of each vitamin for 2 l of water. Calla loves space, so the pot must be large and wide. I transplant the plant, usually after resting, once every two years.

Grow calla, and she will conquer you with her beauty and grace.

  1. Calla is attacked by a tick
Leaves turn yellow on Ethiopian calla (in the photo). Prompt, what is the reason and how to help the plant?

    1. Since autumn, the plant has a natural rest period. This species does not shed its leaves., therefore, in winter, it needs bright lighting and a long daylight hours. When the heating is on, the air humidity becomes too low for callas. As a result, a complex of negative external factors leads to severe damage by spider mites., which just manifests itself in the appearance of many small yellow dots.
      HOW TO HELP
Illuminate the plant in winter, so that the length of the daylight hours is about 12 hours.
Be sure to lower the temperature of the contents to +16-18 city, (must not exceed +20). This will help the plant survive the lack of natural light and reduce mite activity..
Reduce watering in cool conditions. The soil should not be too wet..
Use a lukewarm shower regularly, to wash the pest off the leaves. Spray the plant with acaricide.
Raise the humidity to at least 50 %.
