Indoor hydrangea – care

Growing hydrangea at home

Every summer I came to my grandmother in the village for a vacation. On tiny windows in the hut, she always adorned hydrangeas blooming with lush cream caps. I rubbed the leaves with them, watered, took out into the yard "to breathe" fresh air, gently sprayed. Grandma was calm for her pets, but I was surprised, how "rural" specimens from autumn to summer "tolerate" dry (watered occasionally with settled water from a well) garden soil, twilight, dust on leaves (no time for granny to mess with them).

Hydrangea was popular in those parts and "looked out" from every window. By the way, for some reason in the village everyone called this flower "minus". Grown up, I decided to make friends with him by all means. However, the handsome man turned out to be with character. I have had several vain attempts to "tame" him. Finally, it succeeded!

ROOM HYDRENSE CARE MY OBSERVATIONS

Hydrangea loves diffused light, abundant watering during flowering, air temperature - about +20 city. Needs high humidity, spraying. Feeding her 2 once a month with mineral fertilizers for rhododendrons. During the rest period (from November to April) I keep the plant in a dark room when +7-10 city, and I water poorly once a month.

WILL UPDATE

Now my hydrangea 2 of the year. This spring has passed it, adding fresh soil. She took a wide pot, since the roots of the plant are horizontal. Next year, in the spring, I will cut the root cuttings and try to root them. Plant bush lives 3-4 of the year. And all worries "pay off" with gorgeous flowering!

Usually, most large-leaved hydrangeas bloom from June to autumn. And if in the spring they need nitrogen fertilizers to grow, then in the summer, when plants bloom, provide a completely different "menu".
    UNDER THE ROOT…
Eliminate at this time from the diet mixtures with a high content of nitrogen. In June, it is best to use potash. Suitable for hydrangeas, that contain the right amount of nutrients and trace elements (eg, Buyskie: liquid or water soluble, the latter is very economical— 1 measuring spoon on 10 l of water). In June-July, exclude fertilizing with "tank mixtures" and manure. From August switch to phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. Never use wood ash - it deoxidizes the soil, hydrangea loves acidic soil. Before applying any fertilizer, spill the substrate with clean water.
    …AND PER LEAF
If long-acting fertilizers were used when planting / transplanting plants, now bring nutrition not under the root, and on the leaf - spray with any mixture for flowering species. It is important to follow the manufacturer's recommendations and do not exceed the dosage.. The procedure is carried out in cloudy weather or after sunset., to avoid burns.
