IMPORTANT POT SIZE

I increase its volume gradually, rolling over the flower as it grows. I choose a shallow container - the roots should feel the obstacle, then their growth slows down, and the trunk, on the contrary, develops and woods.

NEEDS A LOT OF LIGHT

Beauty is bright. Mine stands at the northeast window, therefore I supplement it with an LED phytolamp. Otherwise, the shoots are stretched and bent. I periodically turn the pot, so that the crown is evenly lit. On a sunny windowsill in the summer it is necessary to shade the plant from midday direct rays.

PREPARING TOOLS

I use a garden pruner or knife for pruning (but not scissors!). I pre-sharpen and disinfect them with alcohol. I use antiseptics for processing sections: green, dark pink solution of potassium permanganate or activated carbon.

CUT EARLY

It is important for crassula to quickly and completely recover by the growing season., therefore, I start pruning in late February-early March. The best time to work is in the morning.. After I water the flower with water at room temperature.

DON'T FORGET TO FEED

Crassula, after pruning and pinching, I feed once a month with liquid complex fertilizer, enriched with vitamins and growth stimulants (according to instructions). Additionally 2-3 once a month I water it with an infusion of wood ash (1 h. ash on 3 h. water, I insist for several days).

Brought home cuttings of a plant unknown to me. Planted in the soil, covered with a jar and left on the table, shading from the sun. Three months later, I noticed tiny funnel leaves on the shoots. Taking off the shelter, put the plants on the southern windowsill. Later, the tips of some of the leaves turned red., why they looked even more attractive.

UNSUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT

After a while, I put the pots on a shelf a meter from the window. A month later, the "kids" were mocking: the lower leaves fell off, exposing chunky trunks with gnarled "twigs". New leaves appeared, but were small and narrow. I returned the plants to the windowsill, but there they "came to their senses" for a long time.

I later learned, that I am dealing with crassula purslane. It differs from a "money" relative in a more restrained growth, compact size and does not need shaping. Over time, the plant looks like a small tree with a branchy crown..

Crassula puts up with soils of any composition, preferring loose and light.

Loves light and fresh air.

Occasionally I feed her with bird droppings (from parrots), insisting in a small amount of water and diluting when watering in 20-30 time.

In winter, I arrange a rest period for the succulent in a cool place and with very rare watering.

Only excess moisture is contraindicated for a flower..
