FLOWER CARISSA – GROWING, LANDING AND CARE

Large-flowered caries received by mail (5-7 cm) seedling with sphagnum roots wrapped in moist moss.

So worried, how will she get accustomed.

LANDING CARISSA

Planted a seedling, without deepening the root collar, in 0,5 l pot in turf substrate, leaf land, peat and sand in equal parts. I poured it and put it on the east window (with a lack of light, internodes are lengthened). Caries developed slowly at first, but as soon as the roots have mastered the earthy clod, actively started to grow, besides, the summer sun and feeding did their job.

SELECTED CONDITIONS

Caries summer is spent in a greenhouse at a temperature +20-30 city. I feed the plant every two weeks with any complex mineral fertilizers. I water the moderately settled (not less than a day) soft water, after the top layer of soil has dried, adhering to the rule: better to underfill, what to pour (flower tolerates drought well). Noticed, that such summer "holidays" are good for the beauty: new strong shoots are formed, which after maturation I use for reproduction.

To prevent chlorosis, I water caries once a month with a solution of iron chelate.

The plant overwinters at a temperature +14-18 city.

THE SECRET OF BREEDING CARISSA LARGE FLOWERS

I cut off only the top shoots. Cuttings with three internodes are first kept at least 12 hours in a solution of "Heteroauxin", then I plant in vermiculite or sand and put in a greenhouse. They take root for a long time: roots taken in spring only appear at the end of summer.

CARISSA: THERE ARE FLOWERS, BUT NO FRUIT

Caries is not only decorative, it still produces plum-like fruits, therefore the plant is called a room plum. But for me 8 years she has never bore fruit, although it blooms regularly with snow-white flowers with a delicate aroma. However, I don't give up hope!
