CHARMING EXACUM – IN THE HOME CONDITIONS

By the abundance of flowering and the beauty of the bushes, it is in no way inferior to petunia. Exakum can be grown in floor containers and hanging planters, on balconies and loggias. true, its fragrant flowers do not last long, but new ones bloom to replace the old, so, until autumn.

EXACUM – THE NECESSARY CONDITIONS

In the garden, containers with a plant are best placed on the east or south-east side.. Then exacum will get its favorite afternoon sun, and at noon it will be shaded, which will protect from drying out of the soil and overheating of the roots. And the plant blooms there more abundantly and longer.

In the southern loggia, it is better to shade the container with a tulle curtain (rarefied light) and spray morning and evening. Especially in the glazed, because the temperature is too high there during the day. Water abundantly, subject to water flow, so that the earth does not become waterlogged.

EXACUM – REPRODUCTION

I tried to save exakum in winter, but it turned out to be difficult even in an empty aquarium, on the bottom of which she poured expanded clay and periodically moistened it. Been lit up since the end of January. But such efforts are justified, if you need to propagate exacum by cuttings for the next season.

In the spring I cut the apical cuttings, some of them put in water, I planted the other in pots with a diameter 9 cm with a mixture of peat soil for seedlings and sand (2:1). I put the pots in a box and covered everything together with foil. After about two weeks, roots formed. I did not notice much difference between these two methods.. Then she grew seedlings in a mixture of sod land, leaf humus (compost) and sand (3:2:1).

Seeing seeds on sale in March, understood, what is easier to propagate with them - you do not need to save the mother plant. I sowed them in light soil superficially. Now from experience I can say, what to sow early - in January, like petunia, because the plant has almost a six-month growing season.
