Milk spurge Christata – rooting

ROOTING THE GROOM OF MILK CRYSTAT

Is it possible to separate a part of the scion on Kristata milkweed and root? It is very big and heavy.

Milk spurge Christata (Euphorbia lactea f. Cristata) - artificially bred cultivar. Most often, this form is sold grafted onto green spurge (usually M. ordinary), which supplies the decorative grafting with the necessary substances for growth. Thus, you are dealing with a complex plant, consisting of rootstock (green bottom) and scion (decorative top comb).

ON A NOTE

Green Cristata varieties grow successfully as self-rooted. And plants with white, yellow and pink stems, chlorophyll free or low in chlorophyll, nowhere without stock.

SHERENKS DO NOT LIKE MOISTURE

If the upper comb part is overgrown, then you can always try to cut off a small fragment of it and root. I recommend starting work in spring or summer, when the plant is in the active growth phase. The cut cutting will have a milky juice - let it drain.

Sprinkle the cut with charcoal. Then dip the lower part in "Kornevin" and leave to dry for several days in a place protected from the sun. Plant prepared cuttings in slightly damp (more dry) priming, half perlite. Until roots appear, do not water or moisten sparsely from below, when the soil is completely dry. It is desirable to provide bottom heating.

HOPE FOR SUCCESS

If this variety has enough of its chlorophyll, to maintain vitality, then the spurge will continue to grow. If not, then, even rooted, the stalk will develop badly or die.

  1. Autumn regime for milkweed

In autumn, after flowering milkweed Mil, it's time to rest.
Start to cut back on watering, but do not dry the soil completely - about half, otherwise the plant will shed some of the leaves. Observe this regime throughout the fall and continue, if a succulent plant winters in a warm room. Put in the cool (+10-15 city.)? Then the soil must dry to the bottom (checking with a wooden skewer). Euphorbia tolerates low air humidity in apartments. The main thing for him is bright lighting all year round., preferably in direct sunlight.
