it Alternantera Bettzikian or Bettzik (Alternanthera bettzickiana Rubra) family Amaranth, originally from Brazil. Decorative leafy indoor and seasonal plant for carpet flower beds. Grow it as a creeping or straight-growing annual or a short-lived perennial tall 5-20 cm.

The plant is also called "chintz". Small flowers, white, collected in apical spikelets, bloom from time to time. But they are not the beauty of alternantera, and in multi-colored (from olive green to red, purple, bronze) and funnel-shaped leaves.

For alternantera, bright diffused light and poor, well-drained soil. To maintain decorativeness, bushes are periodically trimmed.

Propagated by cuttings in spring, cutting from the mother liquors preserved in winter in room conditions. Rooted are planted in pots or in the summer in a flower garden.

The critical temperature minimum for a plant is +5 city.

ON A NOTE

There are types of alternantera (Alternanthera reineckii, Alternanthera sessilis), which are suitable for growing in aquariums.
