The background information stated, that it is a small-bulbous plant native to the southern states of America and Mexico with red and orange flowers, like bells.

Received by mail a parcel with small lemon-colored onions. In May, after the earth has warmed up well, planted them in the front garden in ordinary garden soil, to a sunny place.

In the first season, they germinated for a very long time.. Only green shoots have grown over the summer, chipped bow.

They never bloomed. I dug bulbs in the fall (in the middle lane Bessera does not winter in the open field) and after drying kept them in a paper bag in the winter in a glazed loggia.

IN 2018 year I decided to germinate the bulbs before planting in open ground and in early April planted them in a peat pot with purchased soil at a shallow depth. The container was placed on the eastern side of the loggia. The landings showed no signs of life for a long time, but I continued to water them lightly as the soil dries up.

BESSERA ELEGANS – A LONG-AWAITED FLOWER

After about a month, they sprouted, and in May I crossed them with a lump of earth into the front garden. Over the summer, the plants have grown to a height of about 40 cm and at the end of August bloomed with graceful orange-red flowers with a white stripe on the petals and long stamens. The flowers bloomed alternately and looked very elegant on thin drooping stems.

LET THE COURTINNE DO NOT COLLAPSE, BESSERU Tied to a peg.

Flowering lasted about 2 weeks. I fed the plant a couple of times a season with complex mineral fertilizer. There were no pests on it. In autumn, when the leaves turned yellow, dug the bulbs. By the way, Bessera gave a lot of babies.

I did the same to her last season, after germinating in the loggia. She only bloomed later, somewhere in the middle of September. Small children did not bloom, but have grown in size.

Bessera does not amaze with its size or magic aroma, but her flowers look elegant, especially in the foreground of the flower garden. No wonder she was called Elegance!
