That's just that, who believes in that, what plant, sitting on the windowsill, can make you money, you can recommend getting a zamioculcas, or "dollar tree". The name is, of course, folk, not botanical, it happened, apparently, due to the plant's resemblance to an ordinary money tree, but more beautiful and reliable, whether.

WHEN TO RUN FOR A LOTTERY TICKET?

Zamioculcas overtakes the money tree in strength and size, for unpretentiousness and undemanding care. Zamioculcas belongs to the aroid family and is represented by only one species – zamiokulkas zamielistny, which is home to the tropics of the African continent.

The dollar tree has a fairly massive tuber., very large, leathery and simply charming leaf blades, which are covered with a shiny waxy coating. The leaves of this plant are feathery and always erect.. Absolutely all parts of the zamiokulkas, as overground, and underground, store water well and can withstand months without moisture.

The dollar tree blooms even in nature rarely, and at home this phenomenon can be called unusual. Since it's blooming, then boldly run for a lottery ticket – you will hit some jackpot for sure. Lucky ones, seeing the flower zamiokulkas, describe it as a cob, consisting of small and rather modest flowers. The inflorescence never forms at the top of the plant, it appears somewhere in the lower part of it and is always shyly covered with a green coverlet, that's why not everyone will immediately notice it.

WHAT WINDOW TO PLANT ZAMIOCULKAS ON

Regarding the intensity of growth, it is minimal, however, the plant will still reach about a meter, so choose an appropriate room or large window. In general, zamioculcas seems to be created for our premises, where in winter, due to the fact that they heat well, pretty dry, you can say desert air.

If you forget to water it several times or even dozens of times, put on the hottest, south window or, on the contrary, to the north, where there is significant shading, it will forgive you all this. As for the temperature of the content, then it also varies over a very wide range – from +10-11 to +32 and even higher. Those who like to "sprinkle" will immediately say: the dollar tree does not need it at all, however will not harm, so love – spray.

In general, all care for zamiokulkas can be reduced to a few words: warmly, abundance of light, very rare watering - and you will be happy in the abundance of dollars in the form of green leaves, at least on the windowsill.

What Zamioculcas does not like, so it's excessive dampness, especially if it is combined with low temperatures, which apartments, and private houses too, can be seen in early autumn, when not yet flooded, and late spring, when they no longer drown. During these transitional periods of the year, watering may not be carried out at all or it can be reduced to once a 30-60 days, no more.

As for the soil, then the zamioculcas does not impose any special requirements on it. the main thing, do not use tight, clay substoates, but, think, few people decide to hammer a flower pot to the brim with clay. The most optimal option – this is to buy potting soil at any flower shop, which is suitable for cacti, because zamioculcas – it's almost a cactus, only devoid of protective thorns. And don't forget good drainage, after all, once again we remind, the dollar tree does not like excessive moisture.

What before the transplant, then in view of the, that the plant develops slowly, she won't be needed very soon. But if such a moment does come, just pick up the crockery a third larger and do not deeply deepen the roots into the soil, ideally, after transplanting, they should be slightly visible above the surface of the substrate.

Fully adult zamiokulkas plants, who are over ten years old, it is advisable to replant more often, they consume quite a lot of nutrients from the soil, because they have a powerful root system and a large aerial part. 1. BRIGHT LIGHTING

Shade tolerance attributed to zamiokulkas does not mean, that the plant can gather dust for a long time in a dark corner.

Due to the lack of light, the petioles of complex leaves and the gaps between their constituent pairs of leaf blades lengthen over time, the bush is falling apart.

It just happens slowly (the plant as a whole is "unhurried"), so there was an opinion, that the shadow is not afraid of him. In fact, the zamio-bag develops better in bright diffused lighting with a noticeable share of sunlight.. Then it is formed strong and compact. Sure, at the height of summer, it must be protected from the midday sun to avoid burns.

2. MODERATE IRRIGATION

At the birthplace of Zamiokulkas in Africa (Kenya and neighboring countries) long periods of drought are followed by short periods of rain. The plant has adapted to this climate, storing moisture for future use in thickened rhizomes and leaf stalks.

This is important to consider when watering it.. Summer, in comfortable high (+25-30 city.) temperatures zamioculcas is able to "assimilate" and the corresponding amount of water: uniform watering, after the top layer of the earth has dried, remove excess from the pallet. If there is little moisture, then segments of the leaves may fall off, leaving only rakhis (main axle with petiole).

In winter, during the period of forced rest, watering should be drastically reduced, keeping the ground slightly damp, and periodically and completely drying it.

3. SHARP LANDING

A bizarrely thickened tuberous rhizome complements the already exotic appearance of Zamiokulkas. I don't want such beauty, and you don't need to hide: only half buried in the soil, then sprinkle with fine gravel, broken brick (top drain), and about 1/3-1/4 part can be left on the surface. This will contribute to the quickest drying of the rhizome after watering and protect against possible decay..

Succulent mix is ​​suitable for planting., eg, turf, leaf land, sand (2:1:2) plus any additives "to taste" - perlite, vermiculite, fine gravel, brick, etc.. The dishes need spacious (the rhizome grows quickly) and stable.

ZAMIOCULKAS DOES NOT NEED MUCH

A stalk of zamiokulkas was presented to me a year ago. Now it is a rather large plant., which recently pleased with a flower! But in indoor conditions such a phenomenon is rare.. It turns out, I found an approach to succulent.

It does not like permutations from place to place. (on condition, that he is comfortable there).

Watering, when the topsoil dries well. "Zamik" is quite capable of withstanding a short drought, but from overflow and stagnation of water can die. Moreover, when the air temperature drops, he does not need moisture and feeding in the usual amount.

The plant likes moist air, so I spray it daily.

I feed from April to early autumn 1-2 once a month with liquid fertilizers for cacti.

BREEDING ZAMIOCULKAS

I root zamiokulkas at any time of the year. the main thing, so that the earthen lump does not overcool in winter.

Gently tear off the segment closer to the middle of the leaf and dry it for 24 hours at room temperature without direct sun exposure. Then or immediately I plant it in a small pot (a glass) with soil or planting in a flowerpot with other plants with similar conditions of keeping (fat woman, adenium, bokarney, milkweed, maternal specimen of zamiokulkas). Although this time I did an experiment, planting it to the ficus on the very edge of the pot, and the result is in the photo. Zamioculcas takes root well without stimulants and greenhouses.

FOR A LONG TIME, BUT CORRECT

I plant the cutting in a separate pot, when will it release its first sheet (by terms - from six months). Gently digging in the soil in a radius 2 cm, so as not to damage the nodule. I transfer it to the pot (a glass) from 3-4 large holes in the bottom and drainage from expanded clay with a layer 1/4 heights.

I take SUBSTRATE for cacti and i coolers or make it myself: y "versal primer with coconut oil (or only coconut fiber), zeolite, vermiculite, fine expanded clay (3:1:1:1). The mixture must be dry before planting..

I water the baby only through 4-5 days, so that the damage has time to heal. In the future, I moisturize rarely and carefully. Mother leaf segment, even yellowed, do not delete, but I'm waiting until he disappears himself.

ZAMIOKULKAS – INVITE LUCK TO YOUR HOUSE!

Zamioculcas has long been "registered" in our house and takes pride of place in the flower collection, bright green foliage. Besides, I, like other amateur flower growers, I believe in luck, brought by the "dollar tree".

CARE AND COMFORT

Because the succulent comes from Africa, he likes warmth and low humidity.

The plant is comfortable in the fresh air. It tolerates partial shade well.. Therefore, overgrown, large specimens, think, can be placed in any corner of the apartment.

From December to mid-March, I do not feed Zamiokulkas. Then once a 2 I water with fertilizer for a month: 5 ml of the liquid preparation "Agricola Aqua" - on 1 l of water (pre-moisten the soil).

The substrate for the flower can be any, just not muddy. Well suited special for cacti. Drainage is required.

When zamiokulkas turn yellow leaf blades, it still doesn't mean, that he got sick. Handsome though slow, but developing, it grows new leaves, and the old ones die, dark spots may appear on the petioles.

The plant has poisonous juice, so you have to be careful when handling it., wash hands with soap, keep children away from him. I transplant and wipe the leaves only with gloves.

Zamioculcas cleans the air well. And to make the "filter" work better, from time to time I wipe the foliage with a damp sponge.

"African", although rarely, but blooms. If the inflorescence-cob does not appear anymore 4-5 years old, it is worth paying attention to the volume of the pot: it doesn't have to be spacious, but not too tight. It is better to transplant a plant in the summer.

Large feathery leaves must be tied up. If you don't, the plant will start to fall. I use a special support with rings.

I BELIEVE IN SIGNS

"Dollar tree" attracts money to the house. But for the best result, you need to bury any coins in the ground..

If zamiokulkas was presented, then you have to pay a few coins for it, so that they "distract" negative energy, which can get into the house along with the plant.

Zamioculcas prefers intense lighting with some direct sunlight.. Light shading may be required only from the summer midday sun. Therefore, even a meter from the window, the plant does not receive the necessary amount of light.. And if you constantly keep the succulent in the corner, then he, sure, will survive, but loses decorativeness: stretch out, the leaves will brighten, will rarely grow new.

BTW, and flowering also depends on the lighting, with bright scattered more likely.
