Faucaria and Adromiscus at home – what care?

Bought faucaria and adromiscus. Peat in pots is like a stone.

I watered carefully, but the plants died. How to transplant, to water, propagate such succulents?

Succulents, arriving in stores, often planted in fibrous peat-based substrate. For large greenhouses, the advantages of this material are obvious., peat dries up at home, compressed, moves away from the walls of the pot, and when watering, the water passes "by". As a result, the plants become dehydrated., their roots gradually die off.

The other extreme is after, How can dried peat still be moistened? (eg, immersing the pot in water for a long time), it will dry out slowly, which is undesirable for succulents and can provoke root rot.

Purchased plants should be removed from the container, shake off some of the soil, which is easily detachable, then soak the rest and carefully remove it completely from the roots. Let the plants dry in the shade with a straightened (don't be zealous with it!) root system and plant in a more suitable mixture - ready-made soil for cacti and succulents with the addition of baking powder is suitable.

You can water the first time not earlier., than through 3-4 days, further - after complete drying, increase interval in winter.

With regard to reproduction, then in adromiscus this process is quite simple - its succulent leaves are easily separated from the mother plant and quickly give rise to roots, just put them in dry, in a moderately bright place and leave alone. Then land in the sand, moisten with dryings, waiting for kids. Fa-ukaria is more difficult - it is usually grown from seeds. Attempts to root a side shoot, taken from an adult overgrown specimen, are not always successful.
