FLOWER ANTHURIUM – LANDING AND CARE AT HOME

My love for anthurium Andre was born at that time, when they first hit store shelves. Flower novelty prompted me to study these mysterious plants, and today I can already say, that I found an approach to them.

LIGHT AND TEMPERATURE

Since in natural habitat, anthurium grows in the shade of trees, he is considered shade-tolerant, and he can safely take root in the apartment, where little light, or at the back of the room. But, in my experience, without sufficient lighting, the plant will not bloom abundantly. Therefore, bright diffused light is most favorable to him.. I do not regulate the temperature of the content for anthurium, he tolerates room conditions well.

IRRIGATION AND AIR HUMIDITY ARE IMPORTANT FOR ANTHURIUM

Important to remember, that anthurium grows in the humid tropics, therefore ideal is to create conditions for him, imitating the natural environment.

Traditionally, flower growers are limited to spraying with a fine spray or placing the pot on a pallet with expanded clay, constantly moisturizing it. A great option is air humidifiers.

A florarium can be made from miniature plant forms., what will be an original interior solution for a city apartment.

Need to water, when the earth clod is completely dry. There is a simple rule: better to underfill, what to pour.

FEEDING AND TRANSLATION OF ANTHURIUM

At the beginning of floriculture, I read in the literature, that anthurium does not like fertilizers. But from conversations with flower growers I learned, what for aroid (the plant belongs to this family) new types of nutritional mixtures appear, which can be used to feed a handsome man in proportion, half as much, than indicated in the instructions. I prefer to transplant plants into fresh soil every spring.. Sometimes I sprinkle a healthy cocktail on the leaf: 2-3 ampoules of B vitamins (different) on 1 l of water.

The soil for anthurium should be light and breathable.. You can purchase soil for aroids or prepare yourself from a purchased mixture based on peat and vermicompost (2:1). I add vermiculite to the substrate (perlite) and shredded pine bark (by 2-3 st.l.. per pot).

Pests

I found only a scabbard on anthuriums. And since I often check, the pest was easily removed with a cotton pad, soaked in diluted alcohol. Then she washed the leaves under the shower and stuck sticks with insecticide into the pots. "Doctor. 8 arrows ", several pieces each (need to follow, to always be wet).

REPRODUCTION OF ANTHURIUM

Anthurium can be propagated by seeds, but for home breeding, the best way is vegetative. At a spring transplant, I take a de-lenka from an adult strong plant and plant it in fertile loose soil.. Often novice florists, bought anthurium, are in a hurry to seat him. I know from my own experience, that this negatively affects the growth of the parent specimen, until his death. it happens, what, wanting to save, flower growers acquire anthurium with children and immediately divide it into single layers, which take a long time to take root, freeze in growth and do not bloom, and often they also die due to the received stress and mistakes in care.

Create comfortable conditions for anthurium, at which it will begin to release new leaves, blossom and sprout. Then you can dig up baby, without replanting the plant itself, and grow it in a small container, remember the rule: the smaller the pot, the better.

PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTION

One of the specific features of anthurium - with age, the stems stretch. To return the plant to a decorative appearance, I use two methods..

1. I'll start simple, but more dangerous, since when using it there is a risk of decay of the root system. When transplant free the plant from the ground and cut the stem, keeping top roots. I process the cut with crushed coal and let it dry for a couple of hours. Then I plant anthurium in a pot of the same volume, gently rolling up the remaining roots.

For stress and for adaptation, I treat the leaves with a solution of succinic acid (1 tablet on 1 l of water). To avoid root decay, I start watering later 2-3 days.

2.This way is for the patient, but the risk to the plant is minimized. It is necessary to stimulate the growth of roots on the bare part of the stem. I wrap it over the surface of the substrate with thick cardboard or part of a cut plastic bottle like this, so that there is enough space between the wall and the stem for nutrient soil.

Moisturize it as needed. Roots grow on average 4-5 months. Then I transfer the anthurium into a slightly larger pot, in which almost all the place will take roots (old and older new), either wrap the overgrown roots around the elongated stem and plant, deepening the plant, in a cramped flowerpot.

I want to share the main secret: anthurium blooms only in a small, tight container. The usual rule of the grower about the ratio "crown-roots" for this flower is not suitable. Only as the roots of the earthen coma develop, the plant will begin to bloom in full force.. Otherwise, it builds up a chic green mass and gives many new divisions.. Although someone, possibly, sets just such a goal.

CONTENT ERRORS

The most common mistakes in the care of anthurium are a violation of the irrigation regime and air humidity. When overflowing, spots of dying tissue appear on the leaves, edges may warp. In this case, there is no need to rush to cut the sheet., trying to return the plant to a decorative look. If less than half of the leaf blade is damaged, through the remaining green part, important work on plant nutrition continues, maintaining its balance. I AM, eg, first I set up the irrigation regime and wait, when a new healthy leaf appears. Only then do I cut off the old one.

With insufficient air humidity, young leaves and covers of inflorescences cannot unfold normally and are damaged as they grow. therefore, if you do not spray the plant every day, then at least track the appearance of leaf buds and inflorescences. During their active growth, be sure to humidify the air daily..

ANTURIUM: FLAMINGO FLOWER FOR MOOD

Recently drew attention to anthuriums, admired, but considered it capricious. And when a friend gave me shoots from her personal collection, I, having studied the articles about the handsome man in "Home Flowers", decided to make friends with him. Moreover, with proper care, the plant blooms almost all year round., especially uplifting in autumn and winter.

Home blooming

Put the kids in plastic (diameter 9 cm) orchid pots with holes (it is convenient to observe the development of roots through transparent walls). I laid pieces of foam at the bottom, which perfectly keeps warm and protects the root system from hypothermia. The substrate was prepared from soil for azaleas and pine bark for orchids, adding some chopped sphagnum moss, perlite, sand and charcoal. She lowered the pots into the pots, to make it beautiful, and put it on the western windowsill.

I watered the kids with rarely settled boiled water, sometimes acidifying it with lemon juice or citric acid. Often sprayed. When, after a few months, the anthuriums grew, planted three together in one pot, to have a lush bush. And after six months they bloomed - beautiful, bright, elegant!

NOT SO AND CAPRIC

I follow, so that direct sunlight does not fall on the plant, otherwise it will burn.

At home, he does not have enough air humidity. A small open aquarium helps me solve this problem.. Also, be sure to spray the air around the plant..

They love my anthuriums "bath days": I wash them with water once a month (35-40 city.) from the shower in the evening and leave for the night in the bathroom, shutting the door tight, and in the morning I put them in their places.

The most difficult thing to care for, in my opinion, - choose the optimal watering mode. Anthuriums do not tolerate overdrying an earthen coma, no stagnant water in the pot. Some time after watering, I remove the excess from the pallet.

This heat-loving plant is afraid of drafts.. Content temperature in winter - not lower +16 city., in summer - until +28 city.

In the spring and summer, I feed the plants once every 15-20 days fertilizer for flowering Bona Forte species according to instructions.

ANTURIUM DOES NOT COMPLAINS ON IMMUNITY

Usually anthurium, properly cared for, looks sturdy. Pests are not afraid of this. And yet I periodically examine the bush and spray it with Fitoverm for prophylaxis. (according to instructions).

The flower does not get sick because, that immunity is weak, but only then, when we make mistakes in agricultural technology. By the way, the plant warns us about this.

Yellow spots on leaves are formed from intense light. And when it happens in winter, then the plant does not have enough light.

If the tips of the leaves turn black, then the soil is flooded, poorly drained or contains too much salt. An urgent need to transplant the bush into fresh soil (it's not too late to do it in September).

The lower plates may turn yellow, if the temperature in the room has dropped or the anthurium is overfed.

Leaves curl? The air in the room is too dry or there are frequent drafts.

IF ANTHURIUM DOESN'T COLOR

1. Pay attention to the size of the flowerpot. It can either be too tight, or large in volume. Choose a container for the size of the root ball, can be on 1-2 cm larger in diameter.
2. Be sure to observe the temperature regime in the winter..

The plant has a vigorous root system., therefore the soil must be drained, allow air and moisture to pass through. Standard soil mixture: flower soil and bark of coniferous trees (1:1). I often add more charcoal - the roots of the flower cling to it and develop well.

Add a few grains of citric acid to the water for irrigation once a month.

ANTHURIUM IS JUST GOOD HERE!

Such an answer to the question "What is the secret of the amazing bloom of anthurium?»I got it from a fabric store, behind the glass of which I saw a gorgeous specimen of a plant, sellers gladly shared, how the pet is looked after.

GROWING FLAMINGO FLOWER

Anthurium is comfortable in light partial shade, therefore, south windows will not work for him. For flowering, diffused light is needed. In summer, the plant is good in normal indoor conditions., however, when the temperature drops to +18 city, growth stops. In winter during 1, 5 months need coolness (near +15 city.) to stimulate flowering.

Water the anthurium after the top layer of the soil has dried with warm water with the addition of citric / acetic acid (2-3 crystals / drops on 1 l of water). For a greenhouse microclimate, the flower is sprayed with warm water twice a day.. After watering, the excess from the pallet is immediately removed (overflow, like overdrying, harmful to the root system).

The plant is fed once every 2 weeks during the period of active growth and flowering: in early spring - fertilizers for decorative deciduous crops, in summer - for flowering (according to instructions).

ANTHURIUM REJUVENATION

When, over time, the lower part of the stem of the anthurium was exposed, leaves and flowers have become smaller, the top of the shoot with aerial roots was cut off and planted in a pot with new soil.

If the roots are just outlined, the stalk can be placed in warm filtered water before planting. And to stimulate the appearance of aerial roots to the lower part of the stem, it is enough to tie a piece of moss (foam rubber) and keep it moisturized. After sprouting of the roots, the shoot is separated, powdering the cut with charcoal, and planted in a separate container.

WE MAKE GLOSS

A special phytospray helps to maintain the leaves and flowers of anthurium varnish. It removes stains from water droplets, prevents dust from settling, gives a beautiful glossy shine, without disrupting the process of photosynthesis.

ANTHURIUM AND SPATIFILLUM – SWEET COUPLE

I advise you to buy anthurium and spathiphyllum in pairs for harmony in the house. No wonder they are called "male happiness" and "female happiness", I dreamed about these plants for a long time. And with the beginning of the epidemic, when the shops were closed, Internet helped. They came to me tortured and almost dry. I watered them well, then transplanted, and the newcomers responded with rapid growth and flowering. Noticed, that anthurium is more capricious in leaving, than spathiphyllum, nov did it. They stand not far from the window, next to the glowing aquarium. Sometimes I rearrange it in the winter garden (west side), but I follow, so that the plants are not exposed to direct sunlight. I water as needed. Once every 1-2 weeks I bathe under a warm shower. I feed about once every ten days from spring to autumn with complex fertilizer for indoor flowers.

ANTURIUM – WHY DRY LEAVES?

At anthurium, young leaves dry at the edges. He stands on the floor. I do not overmoisturize, I try to pour from below. I have my own house: not hot, +19 city., the air is not dry. I think, that flower is old. Bought in a small flower pot, packaged. Transplanted into a larger pot. Prompt, what about the plant?

Brown spots on anthurium leaves - a sign of problems with the root system. Let's analyze the reasons for their appearance.

WHEN IT'S ABOUT WATERING

It could just be overwatering.. Then it is enough to normalize watering: do not overdry the earthen ball, but let the top coat dry. And you have to water from above, so the soil is more evenly wetted and it is easier to control its moisture. When watering in a pan, you can overmoisten the lower roots and at the same time dry out the upper ones.. In many ways, the result depends on the composition of the soil.. If it's sphagnum, then he, likely to wet evenly. But if there is a lot of low-lying black peat in the composition, then the capillaries in the soil are very small, and the water won't rise.

SAVE FROM ROT

If the roots rot, they must be thoroughly washed from the ground and cut off (with a margin) damaged areas. Plant grow-

into clean wet perlite, preferably in a clear disposable glass (200-500 ml, depending on the size of the bush), to watch the roots. Put in a greenhouse. If the decay continues, then cut off the entire lower part with old roots, leave the top of the stem with leaves, replant in clean, moist perlite and return to greenhouse.

AFTER TRANSPLANT

The situation could be much worse, if the anthurium was transplanted. Usually amateurs release the roots from, as they think, incorrect soil and replace it with heavy, nutritious. With such a transplant, the roots suffer greatly from mechanical damage., and then rot in a dense substrate.

For anthurium, it is optimal to grow in sphagnum or loose red high-moor peat. If there was a hard transplant, selected wrong soil, it is better to carefully remove the lump from the pot and look at the condition of the roots. Healthy - they are thick and light, slightly pinkish. Brown, thin, with an unpleasant odor? Then urgently needed resuscitation.

AGE

Your anthurium, Larissa, not old. But even the old one will not show brown spots., if care is normal. The bottom of the stem will simply gradually become bare from the natural death of old leaves.. The plant is better not to transplant at all, than to give it too much volume and fine soil.
